Hand-written letter by Louis Armstrong

armstrong letterA three-page letter signed "Louis Armstrong" from Armstrong in Birmingham, England to Mezz Mezzrow, clarinetist and author of "Really the Blues". Dated August 30th, 1933.

Mezzrow was Armstrong's close friend, his marijuana supplier and, at one point, his agent. Armstrong wrote this letter on his first European tour. Includes envelope addressed to "Mr. Milton Messirow". Especially intriguing is Armstrong's use of dashes throughout the letter, similar to those sometimes used in poetry for emphasis of certain words. This is a rare treasure from one of the greatest contributors to American music.
